1. Listen effectively:

Listen more than you speak, the most important communication skill for leaders is the ability to listen in our modern society listening has taken back seat, but every effective conversation starts with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to replay. Don’t listen to the replay, listen to understand the message, listen for the emotion behind the message. You can also ask follow-up questions to make the speaker feel that you’re paying attention, but don’t interrupt give the speaker time to finish, you can do things like nodding or smiling.

2.Improve body language:

Body language is a type of nonverbal communication in which physical behavior as opposed to words, are used to express or convey information. A speech only makes up about 20 to 30% of communication, and rest of the information relies on tone of voice, facial expressions, eye contact, gestures and how we stand and seat etc. So, improving your non-verbal cues will make a more effective communicator.

3. Pay attention to nonverbal communication:

Improving your nonverbal communication is not enough you need to pay attention to the speaker’s facial expression, hand gestures, posture, and eye-contact.

4. Be transparent:

An employee’s relationship with their leader should be transparent, which will build a trust among employee and leaders in a working environment. By developing a transparent workforce, with no hidden intentions, allow your employees to feel comfortable and secure which may increase levels of productivity and motivation.
